David these news are ancient for me. I am handling such issues since I am involved in SEO. But I am sure it is a great read for SEO new comers.
And Jaan, it is not like the nofollow argument. It is an obvious and successful way to defend themselves from cloacking and to provide meaningful, accurate and user friendly results.

looks like old news indeed. Hardly any dynamic site is made this way now adays. The only place where I see these kind of problems is in old sites that never updated their system.

Road builders design their roads for cars, if you want to drive around in a tank, don't be surprised you´re not allowed on the roads. Search engines apply the same logic, if you build a site that is unspiderable because the same content is presented with different URL's depending on the path you took to get there, then don't be surprised that they ignore your stuff. When they give this information, shouldn't you be happy with this help? If car designers would completely ignore road design, it would be a mess on the roads.
