Sounds like the nofollow argument to me. It is amazing the requests by the search engines now-a-days. I think it is great they are communicating more and more with us, but to tell us how to design and create websites to improve their search results is kind of funny to me. In the past they conformed to design standards and worked out issues themselves. Now we have to design for them??

David these news are ancient for me. I am handling such issues since I am involved in SEO. But I am sure it is a great read for SEO new comers.

And Jaan, it is not like the nofollow argument. It is an obvious and successful way to defend themselves from cloacking and to provide meaningful, accurate and user friendly results.

Yep, all good advice there, David. Many shopping cart systems use odd query strings and can cause havoc in this department but there's a few ways round it using mod-rewrites.

looks like old news indeed. Hardly any dynamic site is made this way now adays. The only place where I see these kind of problems is in old sites that never updated their system.

Do you mean road builders building roads for tires in stead of tire manufactures building tires for roads?

Road builders design their roads for cars, if you want to drive around in a tank, don't be surprised you´re not allowed on the roads.

Search engines apply the same logic, if you build a site that is unspiderable because the same content is presented with different URL's depending on the path you took to get there, then don't be surprised that they ignore your stuff.

When they give this information, shouldn't you be happy with this help? If car designers would completely ignore road design, it would be a mess on the roads.

John you missed my point. it is like the nofollow argument because Google wants you to change your website to help them be better.
