what is going on with google??

what is going on with google?? I managed to rank really good (top 5) in the keywords of my spanish site that were most searched, and from one day to the other, from top 5 I suddenly come out of top 200!

why?? on sitempas it is still showing as if I am in top 5 of those keywords, but my page doesn't appear and the quantity of visits has been reduced in more than 50%... this is creating me a lot of damage

how can I know if I have been penalized for something, and if I had, for what? is there a way to know that?

Well, your page looks a little spammy with all those huge links with the same anchor text. That could be a problemo.

Not sure what you mean when you say sitemaps is still showing as if you are in the top ten ...

spammy in which way? I know I should work in the design for IE, I always work with firefox and tend to forget about IE users :\
any suggestion on how to improve the links?

I mean this for example:
Top search queries Average top position
1. tonterias 3

as you see, the average position according to google sitemaps is still on top 5, but of course it is not

Well, for a start, make those links a nornal size and vary the anchor text. And put more text on the home page.

And what are you talking about 'according to Google sitemaps?' Do you mean according to your Webmaster Tools?

The size of the font is better, but the anchor text is still the same.

As I always understand Google, could it be that you were doing some changes on your site?

nine months later I am having a similar issue to this... most of my main keywords ranked on top 5 dissappeared, not even in top 200, so my visits dropped from 10.000 a day to 4.000
this is a huge drop, and I can't find anything that I am being penalized, in google webmaster I still have the same values as before, the only difference is that last time it resolved in less than 24 hours, now it has been almost 48 hours!
