Exclamation Help! Audio Book Site redirects to Porn site

Hi WebPro Gurus,

I'm wondering if anyone has expertise on getting Google to remove or flag a web site?

I have an author client who writes inspirational fiction. When you Google her name for audio books, the site that comes up number 1 in the search engine is a strange url that includes her name as part of the subdomain address.

This url automatically forwards to a really, truly raunchy porn site. Since my client writes faith-based fiction, and many of her readers are younger girls, this search result is especially troubling.

I've reported the whole problem to Google via their Report Spam form here: Report a Spam Result , but I'm wondering if there's anything else I should be doing, or any way I can expedite the flagging or removal of the site.

Do any of you have suggestions? How would you handle this situation if this was your client?

I'd so appreciate your insights...
Kelli

P.S. I have not given the url for the "audio books" site here for a reason. No one should have to see what I've seen today, so please don't ask me for the link!

The result that is returned in position one: is this a legitimate URL from a publisher or other source that is redirecting for an unknown reason, or is it some unknown party that does this redirect?

Also, do you get an appropriate link showing on that first page to the correct content? If so, I might suggest a modified form of Googlebombing. Generate a press release about the issue, and make bloggers aware of the issue you have encountered. As you mentioned that this author writes faith oriented novels, church and CYO organizations might also be good starts. As they write about the issue to their blogs and web sites, and link to the proper URL in their articles, you could hopefully overpower any link juice that the objectionable site has and bump the correct URL to the top spot. It won't be instant, but it may be your fastest option.

Would it be possible to send me the search query you are using in PM? Depending on how the page was moved to the top result, it may be possible to find other ways to overpower that URL. Also, if certain redirects are in use it may be in violation of other Google rules: for example, if the site is using a redirect to bypass Google's safe search filters, this may be grounds for expedited removal. If by use of the name of a children's author they are attempting to target children with the content, there may be other issues as well that could be exploited to get the content dropped.

Wige,
It's clear that this person/group is specifically targeting this author.

The domain they are using is in the following format:
http://authorfirstname-authorlastnam....cn/index.html

This isn't the actual domain, but it will give you an idea.

This person/group had to create a specific subdomain with the author's name in it in order to accomplish this. Then they page titled it "Audio Books by (Author Name here)" and filled the description info with innocuous details about the author and her books.

Readers don't realize they're clicking into a visual trap until it's too late.

I apologize for the cryptic domain description above, but I honestly can't bring myself to give anyone the actual site URL. It's just horrible.

My goal, at this point, after getting advice from some people on another forum, is to try to bury the site by creating a legitimate site for her audio books and doing everything I can to get it higher in the search engines than this horrible web site.

Thanks so much for your help and advice,
Kelli
