Default Drop in Google SERP

Our site is more than one year old. The site's PR was 3 and we were in the top 10 for our 10 most wanted keywords search.
Recently we submitted our site to directories (ca 700), bought a lot high quality featured links and added new unique articles to the site (once a day) .
And now the PR fall to 2 and site position is 30.
We added many external high-quality featured links targeting the site in a month. Could this be the cause of the site sudden drop?

Hard to know without seeing a before and after picture of what was done to the website

Also understand rankings for pages change all of the time and it is quite normal now.

Sure could.

You trip the filter by adding to many links, too soon, as compared to averages within your category, and your results are filtered lower and PR devalued. (As you witnessed first hand)

The fact that you submitted to 700 directories and then state you bought high quality links presents itself as an oxymoron.

There are not 700 low quality directories.. much less 700 high quality directories. (this may appear as link spamming to google)

Hi Vovk
This can due to your submission in wrong category. You have to choose best category to submit your category. You must consider about quality back link. You have to submit your site in high quality directory.

Your question provides its own answer. Aggressive link building.

Googles guidelines state clearly:

The "Aggressive link building filter" appears to effect the ranking position for the targeted anchor text.

So in my observations, should you aggresively build links for "Italian Restaurant" the filter with trip for that anchor text. At the same time, if you had good rankings for "Pizza Take Out " and did not aggresively build for it, "Pizza Take Out " should hold its serp position.

Build more Inbound Links (IBL) than Outbound links... Maybe that's the reason why your rankings drop....

Exclamation Re: Drop in Google SERP

Did anybody mention here the possibility that the site might have been penalized with the -30 penalty?
