Is your company ranked in Google under Ripoffreport.com?

I get alot of clients who are looking to get Ripoffreport.com off of the top 2 pages of Google when someone searches for their company name. I actually sort of specialize in such work and offer it in my services.

I am opening this thread to bring up discussion on techniques used to bury negative press on Google. Then, on the 20th of August (this month) I am launching a new website free to both businesses & consumers which challenges ripoffreport.com.

This new site is 100% top secret right now in the development and testing phase so I won't mention the URL or company name but rest assured, I will post it on the 20th. The reason I mentioned the site is because if you are ranked in Google on ripoffreport, you will want to get your customers to sign up for the service I am providing because this will replace the bad rankings with Good rankings.

Of course if they are justifiably listed there then I think their are internal issues that need to be worked out on the client side to stop getting bad press and start getting get press.

I have brought some new "temporary" results to the top by placing an ad in Craigslist with their company or individual name in the title of the ad. That will get you one or two top spots just to stir things up.

For long term results you need to get listed in high profile blog posts, and online articles. Those two techniques alone have done alot. Although it does not stop there. To remove bad press it takes time and effort.

The problem is, from a user's point of view, that when they conduct a search they might get rubbish from Ripoffreport.com or PR (public relations) fluff from someone trying to put right what their client sees as an unfair slating in Ripoffreport.com.

Interesting, but I don't see how one site can displace another by more than one position in the SERPs. If you can get above ripoffreport.com for a given company name, they will still as likely be on page one.

While I agree that some business/individuals deserve to be there, however every disgruntled ex-customer/site can slander someone all over the place which if it gets syndicated can permanently damage someone's reputation forever.

The onus of proof must lie with the person making the accusation. He must be able to prove without reasonable doubt, that the company under question did not fulfill its obligation to their clients / employees.

I think Ripoffreport.com wants to be like a consumer protection and reporting website etc.

the problem is that their editorial review must be very stringent, etc. for them to be able to make a good case against the offending company. in short, they should have a real case and not be based on stories.

If the website implemented a mandatory "upload proof" or "link to documents" ability when users are posting and they only posted materials that can be proven, it would be a valuable resource.

Currently you can find people posting actors just because they thought a movie sucked.

Also, the law protecting such a website is void if the owner or operator of the website were to edit reports. Is anyone familiar with the ripoffreport about Sergey Brin? They changed it to say Soney Bonoi. However they missed a small part that still said Sergey Brin and I took a screenshot. If I go to that listing now I would see that Sergey Brin has been effectively removed completely and it is 100% Soney Bonoi now. I have screenshots of that also. I betcha there are people who would love to see those.

If you are unfamiliar with who Sergey Brin is for some reason, he is a founder of Google. I wonder why that report was edited...
