Hyphens are.

Hyphens do

Hyphens are logically applied text wrapping points.

If you choose to utilize URLs that use hyphen in the address, that URL can, and probably will, wrap if the address is sent by email to others.

Underscores will not.

Dashes are used in math, so searches with dashes in the equation give you another competitor.

Dashes are used in the context of search engine algorithms as negative operators. This means that searches including a dash prefix ("-keyword") will actually prevent that term from being listed in the results.

Peace
Google did not invent the Internet, and by now trying to proclaim something that has always been the method of operation...is a sign of desperation, or Matt the puppet was in need of something to blog and thought our thread was free for him to use....

Odd......

Thanks for the update that underscores are now word separators .

Everything is subject to change without notice. I remember the "underscores are not seperators" blog post by Matt Cutss (Dashes vs. underscores) back on August 25, 2005

You can not register a name with an underscores (_) , so, no need to worry about trying to register domains with underscores.
