Identity Crisis??
One of our sites opened as "Personal Defense Systems". A.K.A. "personaldefensesystems.stores.yahoo.net" A.K.A. "store.yahoo.com/personaldefensesystems". We bought the domain Safety Enforcement.com for it around 2003? And dropped the other. We use a "fixed URL" tweak (will only resolve to the chosen URL) and now Y!'s domain re-direct tool to double up on the Safety Enforcement.com domain. We've never had a bit of trouble and have always been listed as Safety Enforcement.
We're building another store and taking the parked domain Personal Defense System out of mothballs for the site. I'm wondering if we'll have SE troubles out of the chute? Here's why.
I did two Google searches, one for link:store.yahoo.com/personaldefensesystems and got a bunch of links but they were to Safety Enforcement not the URL searched for - "personaldefensesystems."
Then we searched "store.yahoo.com/personaldefensesystems" w/o quotes we got a single result - the home page of Safety Enforcement.
So the redirects work and all variations of the storenames lead either to a "page not found" or in these two cases, inbound links that say Safety Enforcement.com (from product pages listed as links but are also items on the current site). In the second scenario where we typed the proper URL www. personaldefensesystems. com there was only one result which was the new domain Safety Enforcement.com
So would you think it is safe to use personaldefensesystems. com given the above information or is it too dicey? I'd like to use the domain again for another store - as mentioned. Thanks!
