Exclamation Google Sells Their Soul For Hollywood$$$$$

Stinking no good lying double dealing hypocrits.....

Google cannot help but commit evil and allow hollywood to twist Brin Page & Schmidts testes in a grab for the almighty dollar and a chance to have their ugly mugs on TV

As it turns out Google has started it's foray into Hollywood (who couldn't tell g-boys want their mugs on TV more?) with the promotion of a new movie from the Bourne series.

The promotion is for "The Bourne Ultimatum," Google built a link for it h ttp://w ww.google.com/bourne . The URL redirects you to ht tp://w ww.searchforbourne.com which appears to be a Google Maps-mash up interlaced with promotional aspects and more likely to be added.

If you scroll down some on the right hand side will be a link to the Bounre Files.

If you click that link it will take you to

The Bourne Files Official DVD Site - Matt Damon Stars in The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy

When you visit this site you get to see trailers, if you notice everything is pushed to the consumer above the fold.

Or so it seems......

However when you scroll down there is a definite set of problems.

1. The text is almost hidden.

2. The text is stuffed with keyword terms.

3. The hidden text reveals truely black hat methods using hidden links.

Where is Matt Cutts???

Ohh where is the Spam Team on this one???

Right Google can't toss them with a ban... when your hand is in their front pocket playing with their wad......

I'm not a programmer so I don't understand

"Google built a link for it h ttp://w ww.google.com/bourne"

I visited the site and it's a Universal Studios site about the movie?? I did see the text but it's kind of hard to say it's hidden - keyword stuffed NO DOUBT..lol..what a joke.

Can You dumb down your post a bit? I don't understand how Google would give them a link (or /subdomain) from their home page? And. what does "g-boys ugly mugs being on TV" relate to this.

Please excuse my ignorance but this interests me and I don't understand the "sell out" as posted.

Thanks!

Why does Google even have this sub-folder set up? What purpose does it serve besides tracking?

CZ

I'm not sure I can dumb it down.

See for years I've been sprouting some pro google mantra in regards to their Webmaster Guidelines which has stated not to do the very things that are done on the movie trailer site. (I am also at times Google's harshest critic)

So as recently as last month I told a new client his almost exact implementation on his pda accessories site would likely not sit well with Google.

Ultimately he may never see this as I do but if he should....he will look at me as if I am an idiot....

It's a double set of standards that makes SEOs like myself look foolish...and after having followed the supposed standards for years it just hurts I guess.....

As for the television comment I can see all three in the future appearing in Google commercials.....blech :-<

"incrediblehelp Why does Google even have this sub-folder set up? What purpose does it serve besides tracking?"

In my eyes it's their play into the Hollywood movie producer ....perhaps they are now going to start producing content in addition to indexing it????

but again that's not where the anger and frustration stems from.

First, companies don't have souls.. They have profit centers.. As a publicly traded company their #1 obligation is to make money.. This is just more of that..

Second, many of us have said for years now that the "rules" are not rules at all.. They are suggestions and guidelines, nothing more.. Your choice to follow the suggestions or not is entirely up to you and your level of comfort with risk.. Obviously the people behind these websites feel comfortable with the "risk level" they are taking..

Beside all of that, look at all the free IBLs they are getting now

Steve, you hit the nail on the head!

If any tv company, it does not even have to be a big hollywood name, want to come and make a film on me then you sure are going to see links all over Seiretto.com telling you about it.

As would WPW or any other company if there are profits to be had...
