Thumbs up BlackGoogle.com

I ran across this article while browsing. Just thougth I'd share it:

A few months ago, TreeHugger Mark Ontkush wrote a post on his blog EcoIron titled Black Google Would Save 750 Megawatt-hours a Year. The post lays out the following train of thought. “An all white web page uses about 74 watts to display, while an all black page uses only 59 watts.” Google, which has a white background and gets about “200 million queries a day” could reduce global energy use by 750 Megawatt-hours a year by simply changing the color of its homepage to black. (For more detailed calculations and assumptions check out the original post here.)

Results: BlackGoogle.com

I like it. I think it looks great. But I'm a big fan of Google anyway.Black or White.

It sucks! Bad contrast between background and foreground colors.
Poor color-blind Googlers.

Horrible. Looks as bad as most holloween sites. I vote NO. And I have to agree with Webnauts that color blind or sight impaired people will have a fit with that color.

The pure white background with the day glo colors. Much Better Goizzle.

I like it very much. It seems to be very comfortable on my eyes... Is this actually from Google or from another party? Either case, I think I'll use this version instead. I feel very comfortable with the color of the result pages. Not glaring... maybe I'm getting old...

Cool Re: BlackGoogle.com

I totally agree, fhlee. It's definitely easy on the eyes. I don't know whether or not it's one of Google's latest projects or if it's from a third party source. I think BlackGoogle.com is COOL.

I think it's gone now or for some reason our firewall is blocking it. Can anyone still see it?
