Default Why I use Google Alerts

One question I get asked everywhere I travel in the SEO world is 'why do you have so much success with your newsfeed system?'

Well - I made a boo boo this week - I did not 'practice what I preach'

I was taking my high position in Google for granted on one of my keywords 'Shared Ownership Mortgages'- then when I looked I thought 'Jeepers' or something like that

I've forgotten to link that page -I had been running off the SERP from my home page.

And knowing you eagle eyed lot one of you would have spotted in and called me a 'silly sod' - because I dropped out of favour with Google - plummet would be a better description! - I had totally forgotten to link that page -idiot!!

So here's what I did.

I have a blog - it's messy - I know, I hate trying to be organised. But I created a page with the correct heading and here's what Google did the same day!!

Google Alert - DavidCastleBlog blogurl:DavidCastle Inbox

CTAB have now entered the World of Shared Ownership Mortgages please see our pages here. http://www.counciltenantsmortgages.co.uk/shared-ownership.html.

It's a start!!

Now ask away - Cheers David

Default Re: Why I use Google Alerts

1. I checked the traffic for the keyphrase shared ownership mortages and there was any with Google, Yahoo or MSN.

2. Searching with the link DavidCastle, I found only 3 pages, and all of them in the supplemental results.

So I do not get your point here.

I also use the google alerts, but I do not register there for keywords/phrases which are never searched for.

So what are you up to? Or did I miss something?

Default Re: Why I use Google Alerts

Hi John, the term 'shared ownership mortgages' is just beginning to take off. Mainly due to house prices rising and new Government Proposals for people buying houses in partnership with Housing Associations.
So on my Google Alerts I have added that expression - I transfer via RSS feed all topics relating to that expression being used in the media and blogs. These then automatically appear on my site as fresh daily new content. And hopefully get me top again!

I would recommend you to join some social communities. I have a lot of success with that. Let me know if you are interested, and I will invite you in some good ones.
