Lightbulb Online Classified Adverts; Hurt or help?

Question about online classified ads like backpage etc. Weekly magazines that have online versions of their classified pages. I guess you can throw in Craigslist as the same example of online traffic building.

I have used a few of these for traffic building and even received an order or two (not Craigslist).

My question is does these temporary "links" hurt or help rankings and my overall page/site worth? I have even seen these links place higher for some keywords/phrases, on Gozizzle, than does my site or that of my competitors?

just wondering if I am hurting myself via our long term page rank/placement.

thanks

Michael

Neither. The links are doing what they are supposed to. Delivering relevant traffic that can, might convert. Since they are temporary I don't think they help much for SEO, but I cant imagine they would ever hurt either.

I think Craigslist may give you some link love. I just got a job from craiglist and backpage brings a little traffic and they are free, so I use them.

Nowadays there really isn't any long term page rankings/placement, so I try to get all I can now and don't worry about what google will do tomorrow.

I recall this on webguerrilla and will include a link Spammin' & Jammin' With Craig's List

Online classified ads are worth for getting temporary traffic. 2-3 clicks a day or so. But dont have a relevant proof to say that they help in rankings as they may be for temporary basis. While some classifieds allow you to add your listing for a year. so this might help a little bit.

Classifieds will give you highly targeted temporary traffic.
Sites like Digg, reddit can give you much more traffic but those are normally junk traffic.

Link from classifieds neither should help seo in much nor should hurt SE rank.

Even I was looking for the same info. Really online classified ads work or not. I am half minded about it. Just exploring Craiglist list.

Thank you
I like your site.

StumbleUpon and Digg may be good source for your site. I see your site is not yet submitted on stumbleUpon. After submitting you should do some stumble exchanges with other stumblers and try to get some reviews. What is your stumbleUpon user name. Add me as your friend. My profile ehuq's profile - StumbleUpon

Also forums will be a good source. You can advertise on other popular free classifieds like Flats to rent London, jobs in London, flatshare, free classified ads UK, Free ads from London | TapThat.co.uk as well.

-thanks-
