Default Social Media Optimization (SMO) and SEO

Today, SMO is a widely used result-oriented SEO technique to meet the taregted audience. But, I need to ask the followings:

1- How to design the website so we can have the best SMO result?

2- How to post the website to other websites so we can have the best SMO result?

Your helpful guidlines will be highly appriciated.

SMO has nothing to do with SEO other than social networking sites links have some value.

SMO won't typically work for your average dry cleaner, law firm, insurance agent, actuary, mortgage loan processor etc.

The design of the site should have little impact on the SMO but in reverse logic SMO should drive people to the well designed site that has the call to action needed to accomplish the clients goal.

Build a profile on myspace and work the site in through comments and occasional bulletin postings.

Peace!

if that's the case, then SMO is very valuable because the backbone of a good search engine presence is relevant links. if you are getting links based on your content, then these are definitely relevant and therefore very valuable.

while this is true to some extent, there are still some ways these types of web entities can leverage blogs in there favor. a law firm blogging about free legal advice and related information can be quite valuable. and mortgage processors can also discuss financial information and coming trends with the housing market.

while you may not blow up digg with this type of stuff, the blogosphere can still find you work and will, in all likelihood, link to it and we've already discussed how valuable that is.

as for design, that's always been more of an aesthetics thing than a ranking thing, but you should always consider the fact your audience is going to have to look at your site while reading your content. at least make it easy for them to do so... either that or be wildly unique.

- How to design the website so we can have the best SMO result?
No differently to a normal healthy well linked - both IBL and OBL - site with loads of good content that is designed to 'entrap and enthuse' potential customers.
2- How to post the website to other websites so we can have the best SMO result?
Follow Chris's suggestion in his post
