Default Google acquire DoubleClick

DoubleClick has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Google. The transaction is expected to close later in 2007. To review the press release, please visit: www.doubleclick.net.

Guide:
This transaction may affect your current working relationship with DoubleClick and your current contracts. Let me assure you that a change in DoubleClick’s ownership will not change the terms of your client contract. Most importantly, a change in ownership will not affect your ownership of your data. Your data remains your property and subject to the terms of your contract.

Between now and closing, nothing will change. As we work with the Google team to plan for the combination of our organizations, our top priorities will be to keep you as well informed as possible of the progress of the merger and to continue to provide you with the highest level of service.

We look forward to our continued collaboration and success. If you have any further questions, please contact your account representative

Default Google's 360 degrees

TP,

this gives Google 360 degrees of market information.

I recall a court case where DoubleClick had problems over tracking data. Can you imagine the power of Google merged with DoubleClick?

Was YouTube any better? $1.6B for a company that's making $15M/year?

Default Reluctant synergy

I'm reluctant to use the word synergy but I'm sure the key question is how much Google could multiply the $100m?

DoubleClick is very much a here and now business model with a proven income stream.

YouTube is blue sky.

I'm not saying either was a bad move... but what a company is currently doing doesn't show what the value of the technology / customer base could be worth.

With Google getting into the CPA game, ValueClick could open up a huge opportunity for Google, Publishers and Advertisers.

"DoubleClick represents just one per cent of a trillion dollar advertising business"

Just?

I wish he commented about the SEO side of this issue.
