Default Duplicate Content Question

I have a website

www.alternativemedicinenew.org

On this site which runs using Wordpress, I will post an article in the Page part of the site and then post the first paragraph with a link to the article, in the post part of the site.

My question...is this considered duplicate content?

Jean

As long as the full page of content is significantly different than the snippet content, it is ok. I would not make any snippet more than 3-5 sentences (an average paragraph). Be certain to include a link from the snippet to the full page of content.

actually, very interesting is that I have found a site that copied my sites design and also the copy.

Now I thought that google and yahoo and msn would suspend the friggnits but as it stands and seems, google believes that since my site is ranked #1 and the copycat site has my copy that their site is now good and relative and trustable.

in other words, it seems that my site set the standard for these regional keywords and once other started copying my content google looked at them as being trustworthy as well..

That's just my little take on duplicate contect. Can you apply this "apparent result" in your own site? From what I've done I believe you can.

Default Duplicate

Hi

This is pretty much on the same subject as a question I've been wanting to ask on duplicate content.

We have a site www.corsica.co.uk

we are building 2 sites, as the travel market is heading more and more towards accommodation only bookings etc, so we have a genuine reasons to do this.

'This' being - we are looking to take content from the Corsica.co.uk website and build another site under a different URL using the same content, headers and bits wil be different but the main body text is just copied, info pages and the accommodation info pages themselves, I take it this will cause us a problem?

I'm sure it will but just looking for some back up before I tell the MD thats its a bad plan!!

Cheers.

Content is not what makes a site trusted according to Google. That is accomplished through backlinks, age, and aging.

As far using duplicate content: dont. It is ok to use a main core concept in content as another sites, but everything around that main core should be different. A 'significant' portion of content on the page should be unique.

Thanks for the help.

When you say 'main core' and significant, these are the areas that are really grey far as I can tell.

The way its heading is that the framework will be different, headers, images etc, but 100% of the body text is the same, it will look very different visuayl etc but the word are the same.

Also, which site would google punish? The new one, or the old one with the original content? What makes me nervious is that it could be both.

cheers.

Joe.

It is the headers, footers, navbars and images that dont matter. The content is what matters!!

Nah you should be fine, but feel free to post an example so we can see.
