Default Totally Out of Ideas on How to Get Back to #2

My site at www.juarez-mexico.com was #2 under keywords "Juarez Mexico" and #5 under "Ciudad Juarez" the most frequently used keywords when looking for information about the city. It was there for over six months.

On January 25th, like thousands of other sites, it went into a black hole, appearing now only in #8 position under the broader keyword 'Juarez'. It also appears as #1 if you type "Juarez <anything>", such as 'Juarez Restaurants', 'Juarez Nightlife', etc.

Can anyone see anything wrong with my index page?

A friend told me that when you use your keywords in the ALT tags of images which also serve as links that this could trigger the filter. I have fixed this problem, and tried cutting down the number of times I use the targetted keywords in the text, thinking that perhaps I was spamming them.

Although it is showing an older cached page today, I know the googlebot has scanned the corrected page because earlier in the week it was the corrected page in the cache, so either that was not the problem or Google has simply not updated the index.

Here finally is one strange clue:

When you preface the search terms with the "allintext:" operator, you get the old results!

allintext:juarez mexico
or
allintext:ciudad juarez

both put me right back on top.

Using the "intext:" operator returns the same results as not using any preceeding operator at all.

It's as though Google simply changed from "allintext:" to "intext:" as the default for searches.

I am curious if any other missing sites show back up using the "allintext:" operator. ???

At any rate, any suggestions you might have would be very appreciated. Traffic has not decreased that much, but I want back into the #2 spot again.

I'm out of ideas.

Default curiouser and curiouser..

Hey, I tried that, and there is my site! Right back at number 1 where I left it last week. Without the allintext: operator, we are nowhere to be found.

Can someone explain what is going on here?

Thanks,
Ren

This has worked every time I have tried it for every site that disappeared. Perhaps an exception will come along, because it can't be this easy.

If it is this easy, then Google may have just switched the default for search results from "allintext:" to "intext:"

The "intext:" operator is for one word searches (such as "Juarez", where I still appear as #8). The "allintext:" is for multiple word searches (such as "Juarez Mexico", which has fallen into the black hole).

If your site was #1 under a two word keyword phrase, see if you are not somewhere in the search results for the first word in the set.

If so, how to get back is *still* the question, right?

Default correct

Yes, it goes the same for me: my site was number one for programming outsourcing and now is just not within the search results. Using allintext:programming outsourcing, I get it "back" on 1st place.

On the other hand, while I was ranking 1st for the above keyword, I had no ranking for programming outsourcing services. After the last Google update, I rank 1st for programming outsourcing services. Of course, it's a far less important keyword :-(

Based not only on the above example, I noticed that Google is trying to extend multi-word keywords as much as possible. So if your page contains word1 + word2 + word3, for Google your site is not relevant for word1 + word2, but only for the full string. Of course, this was valid before, too, but it looks like Google increased its importance.

So maybe Google is just trying to narrow the search results?

Regarding Word1 + Word2 + Word3 not being evaluated as not relevant for Word1 + Word2, I have similar experience. My previous page titles all began with "JUAREZ TOUR GUIDE", then something relevant to the page itself, such as "JUAREZ TOUR GUIDE - RESTAURANTS - MARISCOS D'MAZATLAN", etc. I am #1 for "Juarez Tour" or "Juarez Tour Guide" but not for "Juarez Mexico", the keywords which get the most searches, right after "Ciudad Juarez"

I changed them all to read "Juarez Mexico - Ciudad Juarez - Restaurants - Mariscos D'Mazatlan", etc. Hope this helps.

Strangely Google did put me on the first page of results for Word1 only, "Juarez", a page on which I have never appeared before and didn't care about appearing on. People who use that keyword are usually looking for information about Mexican President Benito Juarez.

Another thing I do not understand is why Googlebot is not crawling more pages. It used to crawl hundreds a week, sometimes the entire site in one night. Now it crawls about 50 pages a night and then goes away.

Another thing I don't understand is how often Google updates the index. I have seen changes come about in two days. Well, it's crawled the corrected pages, most of them, anyway, but no change in the index itself. I hear it will be another couple of weeks before we can expect another "dance".

Default allintext

Same goes for my site using the words

maryland computer repair

One of my sites (my oldest) www.fasterdigital.com is #1 and #2. My new site (put it up last Tuesday) is #3.

What does the ALLINTEXT and INTEXT mean? What does it do?
