Default Getting more of a PR in Google

Hello people. I was wondering what (if anything) I was doing wrong. After about 6 months, I have a PR of 1 on Google, but I feel it should be a 3 or 4. I've incorporated every SEO tactic I can possibly think of, and every tactic I've researched. Somehow, I'm having a tough time with Google, or so it appears.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Why do you feel this way?

You need some big help when link building.

Default I have been building links

Granted, not all of my links are PR5 and up, but I do have some solid PR4 backlinks -- maybe 5 or 6 of them in relevant industries, and I've probably submitted to 225-250 free directories. I've also submitted articles to various websites. I've used my signature in blogs, although not too much. I've submitted to DMOZ, but I can't get an answer out of them. I guess I'm out of answers! hehe ....

Sounds like you have 5-6 quality links and 225-250 low quality links that wont help you.

Not all links carry any weight:

Thanks for that link! Pretty neat. When I go to my Google webmaster tools, it says I have 113 external links (ppl linking to my home page). But as Matt Cutts clearly states, "not all of them carry weight". I think it's just a matter of waiting, perhaps gaining more, high PR and relevant links, and I think domain age has a part to do with it. The longer you've been around, heck. I know a company that had a static html site with 3 pages done back in 1997, and it's outdated and awful. Nobody even goes to it. But it has a PR3 because the domain is 10 years old.
