Google traffic spike? Anyone else had one?

Just out of interest I was wondering in anyone else oin the UK expereinced any odd traffic spikes last night?

On one of our ad campaigns we went from an average of 650 page views per hour to over 13,000!!!!

Granted we benefitted from 12 sales in less than 10 minutes...... but we have never seen anything like it - Anybody else had the same experience who can shed any light on it as to why? Have emailed Google so will appreciate any feedback

You could have easily had a popular keywords for a brief period of time. Are you sales, traffic still at the same high levels today? Have you checked your referrer logs to see what keywords this new traffic is from?

We saw an overall increase in our stats. Possibly it is the last minute Christmas shoppers?

We had a large spike a few days prior to that - no purchases though - but visits to one of our pages - not from an ad either - ours was from countries that normally do not use our site or have reason to think we exist- we still don't know why..

but check your list of countries on your analytics program... see if anything is off there..
