Default help regarding .htaccess file

hey guys, i redesigned my whole site 6 months ago and since i use google sitemaps it helps me know which files are currently broken. a lot of the folders where i used to keep them in i no longer need. ex:

http://www.sestrims.com/_pp/cadillac/cts.html
http://www.sestrims.com/_pp/lexus/ls.html
http://www.sestrims.com/_pp/lincoln/towncar.html
http://www.sestrims.com/frames/navdodge.htm http://www.sestrims.com/frames/navlexus.htm

is there any way i can put a code inside the .htaccess file that will redirect them to my home page if lets say they try to access any file within folders _pp,frames, etc. ive been doing it one by one but its starting to overload already. please advise. thank you

Add in your .htaccess file the following code:
Code:
# Start the mod_rewrite rules
RewriteEngine on

# List of redirects, in case some pages were moved
Redirect 301 /_pp/cadillac/cts.html http://www.sestrims.com/
Redirect 301 /_pp/lexus/ls.html http://www.sestrims.com/
Redirect 301 /_pp/lincoln/towncar.html http://www.sestrims.com/
Redirect 301 /frames/navdodge.htm http://www.sestrims.com/
Redirect 301 /frames/navlexus.htm http://www.sestrims.com/

Why don't you redirect a Nissan Ultima page to the new Nissan Ultima page. If their isn't a Nissan Ultima page on the new website, then you should let that old page die (remove it) and make sure you have a 404 error page in place for people from the search engines.

Your not really saving much if your redirecting to a current page that doesn't match that older pages content.
