Hi All,
if your site is listed in open Directory(DMOZ), your site will get higher Ranking.
Is it True? Thanks

It's true to a point...
What helps you get better rankings are listings in directories with high page rankings. DMOZ' page rank is 8. That's pretty high and that's why it is important to be listed there asap.
Page rank is calculated based on your cumulative link count, relevance and the page ranks of the directories or pages your link is found in.
DMOZ isn't the end-all, be-all of web directories and not being listed there won't kill your site. Coming out of the gate, you'll have to work hard to get around not being listed there. Get your link added to other high ranking directories, even better if they're directly related to your site content or business. Continue to do so until you finally do get listed at DMOZ.
When you finally do get listed, your pagerank should still get a boost, plus you'll find your listings in all the other search engines that rely on DMOZ, which will add to your link popularity.
When it comes to submitting to DMOZ, the rule is "submit it and forget it". Just be patient.

Every link helps. DMOZ is just another link.

Since DMOZ and its sub pages have a higher pagerank, so listed by it will help you a lot in PR. And most important, those major search engines, including google, msn, yahoo, etc, all use DMOZ data, so listed by it means that you are submitting to those major search engines.

We need to stop linking because of PR. Toolbar PR is worthless and should not come into play when acquiring back links. Link because the page is relevant to yours.

We've been trying for, literally, years to get listed in DMOZ. We even filed a suspect fraud report and never heard back from DMOZ. Our site still isn't listed.
Are there any working suggestions to getting listed?

Nothing you can do except wait.. Resubmitting is bad, pestering editors is bad, and everythign else that you might do to influence getting listed, other than making the best website ever, is considered bad for the most part by the editors..
The only benefit that DMOZ really brings is the link.. And the links from all the sites that use the DMOZ feed to populated their directories.. That could be a rather large number of links very quickly.. But, they are rarely anchor text links that will help a specific keyphrase..

I tried to submit two sites, 6 months ago, but I guess they will never get there.

Six months too soon to start getting excited. Read the forum posts at DMOZ and you'll see tons of posts from people that have waited years.
That's just the way things work over there. They've also been working on restructuring their process for the last few months and that's really slowed things down.

Hello,
It is true to some extent that getting listed in DMOZ makes your website easily reachable by search engines and people browsing the directories to find companies of thier choice. However, its not so easy as it sounds to get listed in DMOZ. If you would like to get listed under say "Category XYZ" and your compoetitor is the moderator of that category then forget about getting included in DMOZ directory at all. It has been more than 1.5 years since we submitted our site to DMOZ, it was not added so we had to submit is 2-3 times again but all in vain and it is still not listed in DMOZ.
Important: Please do not think that getting listed in DMOZ will increase your site's pagerank. I fully agree with 'IncredibleHelp' that a link from DMOZ is just another link. The best example you can see is that our site " Knowledge Base Script" is not included in DMOZ directory and still is has a PR of 6. The PR of 6 is just because of quality links from relevant and similar sites. So, do not confuse PageRank with links from DMOZ.
Sincerely,
Ajay Chadha (Director)

DMOZ down
Just also wanted to mention ODP has been down with with a technical glitch since october, with no resolution on the near horizon (the directory works, but the submit URL scripts don't).
