I just read about on another post about the possibility of a non-www and www indexing, duplicate content penalty.
I have a site that is indexed both ways www and non-www and is not getting indexed beyond the homepage. Would this generate a duplicate content penalty? Does anyone think that this the case here (http://www.johnsonrealtyofstlouis.com) and if so is a 301 redirect of the non-www domain the answer? |

I would do a 301 redirect from the the non-www to the www regardless of the SE, just to ensure continuity.
www.site.com and site.com and www.site.com/index.htm, although all the same site, are all different URL's as far as Google is concerned. I think that you will find better traffic and better placement if you do the 301. *VERY IMPORTANT IIS 301 redirects have various filters that need to be in place to be done correctly. If your content is dynamic, and you various querystring URL's, THIS ARTICLE is very important. Direct your hosting to follow the steps outlined here. http://www.developerfusion.co.uk/show/4678/ Cool beans. |
