Default Domain Discrimination

A few of my domains were 'discriminated', I posted unique quality content and never got indexed or decently ranked. I spent months trying to find out why, and I came with 4 theories:

- links to a banned domain
- extensive internal duplication due to gateway pages
- extensive internal duplication due to a blog system that provided several paths to the same article (normal in blogs but duplicated content for Google)
- low clicking or short visiting period from surfers

Anyway, I posted similar unrelated test pages in 9 domains, and the discriminated ones kept ranking low.

So, if I can confirm this 'discrimination' or penalty, I will need to take corrective action or discard the affected domains.

So your linking out to banned domain or bad nieghborhoods? Then yes Google will demote you. Of course this has nothing to do with "duplication penalties"

Sure if your building doorway pages why wouldn't Google demote you?

Nope, this is not an issue and Google simple ignores one version and ranks the other. 1000's maybe millions of blogs owners have duplicate content and don't even know it and their blogs rank fine.

Nope this is not an issue at all.

Incrediblehelp, not to get too involved in this ... but I know that there was something in the Google patent app that said that pages with lower retention time and lower clicks could be penalized.

My understanding was that they may or may not be utilizing this ... I think it was only meant to apply to pages that are ranking well in the serps to help determine if they were really relevant but I still had questions as to if it was being used or not.

That said ... I agree 100%, if you are still building doorway pages you are going to get smacked and linking to bad domains is bad juju.

One thing we must all learn that if its in a patent app, doesn't mean it is currently or ever will be involved in the Google algo.

That's true ... and as I said I don't know if they are using it

I think it might be a good one to level the playing field of older vs. newer domains though ...

To the original poster

The thing that should really send you a message and should hurt you the most is you wasted an entire year of your life with things that will never do you any good..

Sadly you do not get that year back in life either...

Nothing is worth losing a year of time.....for at the end of each person road traveled on earth.... you will never find an armored truck following a hearse....

Default penalization index

Thanks for your incredible help!

I can now focus on the real issues that affect my pages.

I will continue looking for a good penalization index, because sometimes is better to use a healthy domain than trying to revive a sick one.

Nope this is not an issue at all.
I wouldn't be so sure about this.

Everybody knows the Google bar plug-in, which is now even promoted by any Skype update.
I believe that the main function of Google bar is to collect information about surfers’ behaviour, including site clicking frequency and visiting period from surfers. The same does Alexa bar as well. It is also the reason why Alexa can show site information like traffic ranking for any site .

Default hmm

If so google sure does it a lot better than alexa. alexa slows you down because of all the info they are collecting and the google toolbar doesn't.

That doesn't prove you wrong, just an observation.

If this even was an issue, you wouldn't be getting penalized for low clicks through your website. The only thing that they might do is possibly give you boost for higher click rates from the toolbar data.

Also Alexa data is bunk.

you have wasted one year in figuring this mystery out for yourself trying to save some money.

you could have atleast contacted any seo company and asked them to give you quote on your website, most will give you solutions to your problems without any cost or commitment.

time is money. You should have considered taking professional help.

you have not given us your website url to check for potential solutions.

If you can provide us your url then maybe some of the brilliant internet marketing professionals on this forum can help you out.

Default penalized domains

Thanks khurramali for your kind help offer!

I have 2 penalized domains. I am convinced that they got manual disqualification by google, because they are very google-oriented. I do not think that you can find anything wrong with them, other than the main subject.

I wonder if we can make a list of penalized or possibly-penalized domains, to serve as a reference for those who need to study this phenomenon.

I am also posting this as a new thread...

SEO_Manager
Your point is what? In regard to "discriminated"/penalized domains topic? Are you playing - "I'll show you mine...show me yours" penalized domains?
