I used two very important SEO technique to step up one level

Hello Everybody,

I used to read the SEO posts long time ago and now I decided to put something to this community.

Not my website's url first of all! I don't want to use this foum for SEO.

I am young, beginner in SEO none the less i am developing websites two years ago here in Hungary.

Yes I learned a lot in the last 5 months from this and other forums on the web. I learned something this week and I think it can be useful info for the ones who just launched a site or whou start to panic when their sites pagerank have dropped on Google.

My website is nowhere on Google at the far end where nobody can see it, but now I'm happy.

The first thing I learned that there is no miracle in life and no miracle in SEO.

My website is a content shop for mobile devices. So I have big competition it's not a question. I am using Google's webmaster tools and Analitycs as well. I like thease tools, beacause they don't telling me at the very first moment, that my site will be in the top ten in 3 weeks if I'm using them.

They are helping me to understand google, SEO and to analyse my sites traffic.

I'am checking the statistics every single day and I can see how my development is working (or not).
I read a lot of topics about keywords, inbound links, contents etc. Of course I started with my keywords first but it's not the most important as I see. I have started to revise my site with thease SEO rules in my mind again and again and got a much better, qualitative website then before.


Here is the point:


My website step one level up in google's system.
It's still nowhere on SERPs but I can see the differences.
I used two very important SEO technique to start to move my website from the end of the line.

First i rewrote all dynamic urls of my site to static to be search engine friendly. My site based on a database and I almost redeveloped my full website but now my keyword rich static urls are generated dynamicaly and I start to feel the results.

The second I did is that I changed my static google sitemap to dynamic. I have used 3rd party tools to generate my sitemap but they just good at the beginning. Much better when your sitemap is built according to your logic or needs. After that I decided to write a simple PHP code to generate it automatically. This helped my website to make the first step up on this long way. Now my sitemap is full with my new static links.

I collected almost all the mobile phone and PDA devices of the world into my database and my dynamic sitemap contains generated static link to all of thease devices wallpapers, video etc, with the manufacturers name and model in the url (for example: /Nokia-6600-wallpapers.html) You can't put that amount of keyword into your page's meta tags.

First I put only the 30 most popular devices from the database. After in two weeks I started to get extra visitors who used thease mobile device names - almost the same expression - for their search.
Then I decided to put the 100 most popular devices in my dunamic google sitemap, after a week I have put all links.
The result of thease steps was that I've got double visitors, visitors from Google SERP nevertheless my site has not got any page rank yet. I started to have visitors from other search engines too.

As I wrote above I'm checking the statistics every day and in Google's webmaster tools the Page Rank distribution indicators were the same but the query stats page showed me 13 different queries with ranks from 2-45. The query stats result was empty for 4 months. Good!!!
After two days the query stats fall back to 1-2 records but the Page Rank distribution indicators are changed. The low rank increase it's almost 100%.

What happened?
- I provided excellent, rich sitemap with static urls wich boosted my trafic a bit.
- Google realized the change and put me on a different - I think higher - level.
- My statistics are changed because there are different algorythms on this level.

The sitemap is one of the most important about your site to google. More important then your keywords on your pages.
The keywords in the urls, thease urls in the sitemap can help to step towards better site ranking.
I learned that in the last month.

Thank you for posting this. We are in the middle of changing our URLs to be static. We haven't put these on our live site yet but we were just having second thoughts about whether this change might affect our rankings negatively. We've worked hard to improve our rankings over the past few months and are worried about throwing that away or going back to square one by changing our URLs. It sounds like you had a positive experience with this change.

Does anyone else who also implemented this have any negative experiences to share or flags to raise or is this a pretty safe change?

PS:'dynamic sitemap' = xml sitemap? This is what we have but just checking.
