Default I'm at a loss!

Hi Everyone

I understand fluctuations in google results but since end Sept. my site www.costablancauncovered.com has been virtually shut down.

For example a search of "buy apartments Javea" producing no. 1 spot - now I scroll down 200 results and still can't find me! Most other pages same result.

The site had gone from strength to strength in the last year since I started Aug 2005.

I never noticed the sandbox effect, some pages hit the top 10 results in 2-3 weeks of being written, others never got anywhere much.

I've done it by the book, wrote articles, put lots of original info in, swapped links with related sites only.

I don't see any point doing more work if I'm penalised - and for what? - could this be anything to do with a competitor reporting me for something?

Any suggestions on what I can do to get going again? My traffic is virtually zero now!

Mark

Hiya

I am surprised that google actually gave you a number one spot at any point. I had a look at your site and i cant see anywhere the keywords (buy apartments Javea). I can't see it in links, i cant see it in your page heading or title..

you really need to make sure your page heading is matching to the keywords your targeting + similar/the same to the title tags in your code. at the moment, i cant really see SEO on your site. not in terms of links and not in terms of headings.

hope this helps

thanks
T

Thanks for actually looking at the site.

The example I used was related to this page http://www.costablancauncovered.com/...ent-Javea.html and the search term - buy apartment Javea.

I live in this town and interviewed a local realtor to get useful info. not just a rehash of other sites.

I have other niche pages that have had top 10 results (though not that many). Now I can't find those pages anywhere in the search results (well I'm looking down to 200 and then giving up) although I know they are still indexed by Google.

This isn't just some rejig - the site is now dead in the water and I'm searching for answers as to how to breath life into it!

ok - lets hope we wont lose this post (again)

what I would do on that page is introduce a more user friendly approach. so really, you could kill 2 birds with one stone! (not that I like killing birds.. hehe it's crule)

- break down the content into sections.
- adding <h1> or <h2> tags to the headings of each sections
- add more relevant links to each part
- research into more keywords to introduce to your titles.

for example:

The heart of Javea - Resturants, shops & Bars

When buying an apartment in Javea you know you will never be far away from facilities such as restaurants, bars and shops because virtually all the apartment blocks in Javea are grouped close together in the three distinct areas that make up the heart of Javea. Outside of these three areas you have all the villas in Javea - see our special page with a guide all about buying a villa in Javea.

buy an apartment in the Javea old town

You may choose to buy an apartment in Javea old town. The old town is the real town centre where most people buying an apartment are Spanish. Needless to say it has everything you would need within walking distance. If you buy an apartment in the old town of Javea you are buying into a traditional Spanish lifestyle.

Javea apartments & the beach

If however the beach way of life is more important to you then consider buying an apartment in Javea's Arenal area - this is where Javea's beach is. It is very touristy with plenty of international restaurants, international supermarkets etc. It is a loud and lively area.

A great compromise between Javea's Arenal beach and Javea old town is the port area of Javea which is in between the two. This has a pebbly beach and is a very lively area. It has the Spanish feel that Javea old town has but also has a good international mix of bars and restaurants. Your apartment will be right by the sea and you can watch the fishing boats bringing in their catch each evening.

and so on... target different keywords in each heading and see the impact it has on the SERPS.

I would also recommend adding the links at the top right hand side of the page, instead of JUST at the end of the page. right align the 2 links, and make them more visually appealing, using some CSS and bullet images. I would also add some images relevant to each heading.

hope this helps:)

Thanks Junioronline for those great ideas.

I will work on those over - it can't harm.

The only thing is will there be any point because two weeks ago the page used to be top 10 google - now it is nowhere - just disappeared and I can't understand why - it's the same for the rest of my site.

Nobody has yet offered a reason why the site has gone off the radar so dramatically - unless it's been sandboxed a year after creation!
