How long does the google sandbox last?

I have set up a site based on competitive keyword, I have been listed on google since may but not in the SERP's. Just wondering how long it may take before google let my site loose from the sandbox?

Any feedback, much appreciated

In my opinion you are "boxed" as long as you or your client wants to be or until the resources are administered to step out at the required competitive level.
