This seems like it should be an easy question, but I have spend a while searching this and cannot figure it out.
If I want to know how often a competitor has shown up on the first page of Google, is there a free tool to figure it out? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. |

Thank you very much for responding.
Yes, I do know their keywords. I can figure out thier pagerank, but cannot find a tool to determine how often they come up on the 1st page. I get this stat for my website--it is in my stat package and tells me number of times on page 1, 2, and 3 of google, msn and yahoo. Does anyone know if there is a tool for this? |

I am sorry I still dont understand.
To be on page 1 of any search engine a query must be made. If you know the queries (keywords) then run a ranking check. Then you know where they rank and what page they are on in Google. |

Sorry I am not explaining this very well.
If a site has a pagerank of 3, that does not tell me how often they are on the 1st page of google. That is what I want to know. For instance, my reports tell me that I have been on page one of google for a particular keyword 10 times in a month. That is what I am trying to figure out on my competition. Does that help? |

ssntell,
Most good hosting providers include site statistics that you can access through your control panel. Usually they have page statistics that are upgraded daily. In those statistics you should find how many times each page has been accessed. There are a couple services that show whether visitors are on what pages at given times, but they are usually pay services and I am not sure how accurate they are. As a marketer myself, I usually find that information for measuring the effectiveness of any campaign is "real time" enough within 24hrs. Do you really need to know if they are there now, at any given instance?, and if so why? Ken |

You cant know that without knowing what keyword they are number #1 for!!!!!
If you know what keyword they are #1 for then simply run a ranking report, LOL. I am trying my hardest here to understand, but it is not working. |

If you are looking for a comparison beteen 2 Sites to determine in how many places each are listed in all competitive keywords and phrases, there is no way to do that. If you are looking for a good view of where your competitor stacks up against you in keywords and keyphrases consider using this tool: http://googlerankings.com/ultimate_seo_tool.php That tool will help you tell what the competitor's Site is optimized for and you can do manual searches from there. Does that help any? Ken |
