Default Add A Word & Returns On Google - Delete Word & No Re

Can someone offer some advice please. I have a fairly new site (approx 3 months old) that has been indexed in google. The domain name is also my primary search term and keyword. Here is the question.

I do a search for BBQ Festivals and I am no where to be found.

I do a search for BBQ Festival Listings and I am number one.

I realize the word listings has an impact on the returns. I guess I was naive in thinking that if my domain name was the same as my search term and key words that it would rank easily

The domain name is www.bbq-festivals.com

I have started an agressive link exchange program and I am sure most of the back links are not registering yet.

Any thoughts on this?

The biggest reason you are seeing the difference is simply a matter of raw numbers.. A search for bbq festivals return 15.6 million results while a search for bbq festival listings only returns 1.25 million results..

That's a huge difference in the amount of competition you are fighting against for that phrase.. Keep working, keep link building, things do get better..

Ahhh sparrow

You are not mistaken ...you will rank well in time...just like real bbq takes hours to cook...so to does real SEO results take time...

You are about half way to done so to speak. Build some more one way links on "bbq festivals"

I do have one question though......why did you choose that term?, I do not see many people using it to do searches..

I was going to ask that as well.. I would think that bbq cookoof would be a more likely search term, but hey, low hanging fruit is still fruit..

Your site is still pretty young. What you can do is add more content and get yourself more one way links. You will soon by moving in the right direction. I do believe that one has to be patient when comes to building the site. As long as you provide quality content and continue to get links, you will reach your target.

Default Definitely Understand The Patience

I know what you mean about patience. In fact I did a post a couple months ago about the number one seo tool being patience

http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic...062&highlight=

This is definitely a seasonal website as there are not many festivals in the winter months. I have another bbq and hot sauce site that has been up for a year and only in the last 6 weeks has it started to rank well on google. In fact yesterday it was number 10 on google out of about 46 million for the search "gourmet sauce"

Anyway......... I guess I thought I could be sneaky and slide in at the top with the same domain name as my search term....hahaha...... not so slick am I? haha

It did work on MSN however. I am number one there for the search bbq festivals.

I guess that just shows the differences between the two

Thanks for the input
