The datacenter thing is really quite simple..

There are at least 64 datacenters out there that google usses to load balance search engine requests and test various minor changes inthe SERP algorithm.. When you make a search query you will get your results from one of the 64 datacenters..

In general, they are relatively close to each other when presenting results, except for the handful of more testing oriented centers.. So, you could do a search for something specific and get the same results over and over and then suddenly get something completly different for no apparent reason..

There are sites out there (like McDar) that will let you check SERP placement by datacenter and datacenter grouping if you really want to see where you rank across all the different datacenters..

And finally, the higher you are in the SERPs the less likely you are to be affected by the different datacenters.. It's not impossible to see different #1s across the datacenters for a certian search phrase, but it becomes very unlikely as you get to that level..

Thats the attitude man. I know all this information and can get easily different point of views if i Google it.

If you read other posts as well, people are facing big changes in rankings (mine not bad though :D)

Read what this lady is saying about Changes in Google results. Lets pray for you :D

A respectable lady on other posts is posting

*******************

I have noticed some big changes in google ranking over the past 48 hours? Sites up and down in the top 10, some disappearing completely and then back again several hours later?

Has any one else noticed anything out of the ordinary?

Keeping my fingers crossed that my rankings don't take a huge beating. Still have nightmares about Florida (ouch!)

Nah, I think I've been here long enough to cross over that troll threshold..

I just find "prefessional" people that can't handle basic issues somewhere near the bottom of the food chain.. And I really really enjoy poking people like you.. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling of goodness in my soul..

Google does indeed seem to be updating more frequently just of late, this is a good thing in my opinion. Rankings should be a fluid concept, too often goog has left SERPs to stagnate.
