Google Update, PageRank, Backlink Information

I have a simple question ..When google page ranking refer to zero ....it means that my website has NO traffic at all

Well, not necessary.
It happened that one of my websites has PR 0 since a few weeks but the trafic did not drop dramatically.
By the way, why a website outdoorholiday.com, that suffered very few changes lately suddenly droped from PR4 to PR0 ? (I did nothing to get new inbound links lately, so I suppose there are not external causes).

Hi, no, page rank is not a direct measure of traffic. My site suddenly dropped from a 4 overall (some pages were a 6 in page rank) to 1's and 2's in page rank. The traffic slowed a little, but only about 10%. I still get about 1200 visitors per month for my site Emerald Isle Studios Fine Original Paintings, Limited Edtion Prints and Murals

A new site I just built is still at a zero, but is now getting about 140 visitors per month. The Maids of Naples Florida Cleaning Service. I am working on increasing that dramatically, but at the moment, their page rank is still a zero.

Hey, on a slightly different note, can anyone give me an idea why my emeraldislestudios site dropped suddenly and by so much?

Most probably, pages where you backlinks are living have added more links, or their PR dropped or the pages might have been de-indexed.

I thought of a similar cause for my site's PR getting down, but it would be kinda strange that all or the majority of the sites pointing to our site to be de-indexed between the last two PR updates or given much fewer importance. If only part of the pages suffered this, the PR drop won't be so dramatically, I suppose.

What do you think ?

I think this happened to a lot of sites lately. Google has made a concerted effort over the last year to denigrate the value of paid and reciprocal links and that is filtering down to your site, I would guess.

Do not worry, that is not a direct measurement of traffic. My Singapore web hosting web site Singapore Web Hosting | Dedicated Servers, Singapore Web Design, Windows Hosting ASP.NET was having PR5 before i started to update as much as 200 pages of content. Just this month only, it dropped to PR0, i suspect Google is updating the PR links this month. As i still recall i once had PR 0 for 4 weeks before going back to PR5 again.

I still gets 500 unique visitors daily, so being PR 0 is not equal to no traffic. You may want to get the alexa web ranks on your browser to see how you fare against other web sites every few weeks.

Usually concentrating on content is the best way to getting more traffic to your web site.

Well, two weeks ago my website Tolkien Library: bibliography, biography, resource, reviews, articles, essays on J.R.R. Tolkien books and collecting Tolkien was having a pageranking of 5. Then it dropped to 0 for about half a day and then ended up on 4. My site was having a PR 5 for over a year and so I suspect google decided to clean up or change some things that determing PR.
I do however think it does slightly affect the amount of visitors, but it could also be a coincidence...

There are many reasons which Google may drop orchange a PageRank.

• Paid Linking : The easy excuse is that they’re targeting paid links, but not all sites which experienced the drop sell or buy links.
• Mass Linking : Do we link out to too many sites via Blog Rolls? Does Linkbait just result in TOO MANY links, even if they are natural. Do blog networks use influential linking to their advantage? I think PageRank has been spread too thin and Google is changing its PageRank formula to address the mass publishing which has taken place over the past 2 years.
• Devalue PageRank : PageRank is seen by many as the end all value of a web site. Our PageRank dropped but we are receiving more Google search traffic than ever. PageRank does not define site rankings in Google or traffic and it should not be mistaken as so.
• Kill the Paid Link Market : If Paid Linking houses use PageRank as a pricing metric, then eliminating or devaluing PageRank will devalue paid linking

Yes, I've noticed that the PR toolbar has updated. In fact, it changed earlier today for our homepage, which is now at PR5, an increase! Hopefully the interior pages follow shortly.

previously My site have 133 backlinks out of that 87 comes from fourms and now my site have only 40 backlinks (only 10 from forums).

My question, is google not giving importance to forums like Digipoint, webproworld, sitepoint etc....

If you mainly rely for backlinks from forums, you are on the wrong path buddy.

omg...Google PR, what a flippin headache. we use to be a PR7, then down to PR5...but, we are still dominating for all our keywords...

i went and got therapy and now no longer care what my PR is, just that the leads keep coming in, and they do.
