Default Supplemental Index Unsearchable

I believe I'm seeing a new twist to Google's internal search/indexing problems.

I'm still seeing many of regularly indexed pages dropped, being replaced by an old cached version of the same page. I tried seaching the URL and unique strings of text in "quotes" from several of the supplemental pages, and from some random sites showing supplemental pages. In every instance, the searches for these pages produced no results. The only way to find the pages listed as supplemental was by using the site: operator.

The supplemental index was unsearchable in these instances.

Are any sites you are aware of, experiencing the same thing?

Are you seeing any supplemental listings in the search results?

Is this isolated or across many/all data centers?

Dave

Hi Dave:

using a site command shows me no supplemental results now. However if I do for instance a site:jacksretail.com fastfloors then I see them. So it seems that if you add a specific page to look for or directory that it will still show up, just not with the generic site command.

It is bouncing around like crazy. Once you see them the next time you don't. Clearly a lot of shifting going on the various datacenters.

Thanx Jaan :)

I was curious if anyone is seeing supplemental listing in the search results.

In the example you gave, the supplemental results can only be found using the site: operator.

You can not pull them up doing a search. This being the case, they might as well be deleted since it is impossible for a searcher to find them.

Well Dave the website I listed SHOULD be in the SI. They are duplicating content from their parent website.

Try this: Set "preferences" on the Google home page to show 100 results instead of ten, and compare the SERPS for your keywords. The results are different, or at least they are at the moment.

Dear Dave,

Please see this http://www.google.com/search?q=steri...09%2CGGIC%3Aen for top supplemental page results.

Normally the supplemented pages will not be shown in usual keyword search results eventhough it has relevance to the keyword(for Example - sterile petri dishes) and supplemented pages will be used to fill the result pages for some rare combination keywords.

with Regards

Thanx

Since I started this thread, I'm slowly seeing results from the SI returning. Not all of them, as I can still point to pages that are tagged "supplemental" that can only be found using the site: operator. I suspect this has much to do with the SI being refreshed and shared some thoughts on my suppositions here...
