Default Problem 301- 302

I have recently asked the company that did the development of my site to add in a 301 re direct, on http://morayfirthjobs.com and http://www.morayfirthjobs.co.uk so that they both go to my www.morayfirthjobs.com as this is the one I have been doing all my SEO and link building for. But he disagrees and said he has never heard of this being done and it wont effect ranings or the search engines at all.

Today he agreed but it looks like he has put in a 302 redirect when i checked on http://www.seoconsultants.com/tools/headers.asp

Can anyone help here or is a 302 redirect OK?

302 means temporarly redirect and 301 menas permanent redirect. Both do the same thing ! So I think is not a problem if you get 302

He wants to get onto this forum then! ;)

If not, it is pretty easy to change the .htaccess file. http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=62599

I know i saw that post. The link on the post to check if a redirect is in place was how I realised it was a 302 redirect. Do you think a 302 will damage search results.

Erm, it is probably preferable to have 301, but I remember some time back some SEO guru recommended a 302 in another scenario.

I'd ask him again, you are, after all the paying customer.

302's can be hijacked.
