Handling 404's

Hi

Suppose you have 100 visits to urls on your site giving a 404 page not found.
Do you put in 100 redirects into your htacess, one at a time?
Maybe you'd just go for those urls that get hit the most ?

301 redirect is the way to go, but don't forget a custom 404 error page also
