Default Automatic Keyword Updating

I have long searched for a tool that can automatically update my Google adwords, based on the average position that they are in.

I have been using a product lately called AtlasOnePoint... Its absolutely brilliant for Yahoo, because the overture system gives you the bidding landscape... so all you have to do is whack in what position you want and whalla!! Updates happen every day (sometimes up to 6 times a day!).

Apparently because the way Google is, their systems are unable to read the current position of your particular keywords, and automatic updating is left to CPA (Cost per Acquisition), which means you can only automatically update your Google keywords based on their performance.

This is good, but sometimes you just want to make sure that your words are appearing in position X.

At the moment, I manually go through all of my keywords every day, and update them individually, I have also hired i guy that works overseas, and updates them at nights... we update the words based on their average position in Google. This method is expensive and time consuming....

I would really, really, really love to know if anyone knows of, or has used any tools that are capable of keeping your Google keywords in position X???

Please also leave you comments if you have any other ideas to make this process more efficient

Cheers

Maybe I am not understanding you fully. Are you updating your keywords based on time of day? This is called "Dayparting".

No, not exactly... However the time of the day can be a factor about when the update happens.

What i am talking about is automatically moving a keyword to your desired position... based on whatever factors (time, competitors position, cost etc..).

e.g. every day, at a particular time, I want a program to check the current position of keyword X and bid on that keyword based on a specific set of rules to try and increase or decrease the bid price of keyword X, to ensure that it remains in position Y

I need this tool for google, this is easy to do with yahoo utilising AtlasOnePoint.

hope that makes it a bit clearer

Yes I understand now, but since your position on Google AdWords widely varies on factors you cant control (not like Yahoo) what tool would be able to do this?

None.

You position greatly relates on your CTR, which is impacted by writing better title and descriptions that can help your click appeal. As far as I understand you cant simple slot yourself into position #3 or #4 in Google AdWords if you wanted.

Yes i understand exactly what you are saying, but apparently Atlas used to be able to do it until Google changed their Adwords API.

On each keyword that you bid on, google shows you the average position. What I do at the moment is adjust my keywords based on the average position (I know that if a keywords average position is X i adjust its cost by a value of Y).

Thats a pretty simple formula, there must be something that is capable of doing this for you automatically.

I have been using google AdWords for a number of years and i completely understand about particular ads CTR and how it effects your ads position, I also understand about writing good copy, catchy titles etc etc... However, google isnt just based on Relevance, its a combination of relevance vs price.

As far as sloting yourself into Position #3 or #4, its quite easy to do... all you need to do is pay the correct price. You dont always appear in that position (Like in Overture), but on average you do.. thats the average position in google.

I would have thought that the extra cost you are incurring trying to get X position would be better spent on additional marketing or higher bids.

I dont think you guys know what i am talking about.

All i want is to make sure that my words appear in postion 3, all the time.

I do this manually every day... there is a process i use of adjusting my keywords price to make sure that they stay in that particular position.

Because there is a defined process, i would assume that someone would have thought of this and created a program to automaticaly do this... saving alot of time and money.

I am not aware one that can do this with AdWords. Of course I am no CPC pro. Have tried a few other forums more specialized in AdWords CPC or even the AdWords themselves?

I have done heaps of searching myself to try and find some type of program... i have found a few applications that try and connected to your account using the API, but most are just demos, and dont give you much useful info.

I guess the only way to do what i want is to get one of my programmers to work on connecting in via the API. I guess most people that have already done this dont just give away the code because it gives them such a competitive advantage.

If anyone does know of any good Google AdWords API programs... or are developing thier own, tell us... maybe we can work something out ;-) HEHE
