Default Google Not #1 says Google

Just thought I would bring this up as a point of interest.
Ask someone to name a search engine and most would say google but not google.
No do a search on google for a search engine and google ranks a lowly 8th according to their own search results. Old boys hotbot, altavista and lycos all rank higher. Weird or what?
Is this some kind of false modesty on google's part?
Surely their critics would say that this just goes to show google no longer delivers the most relevant search results???
Your thoughts please.

Default Tell Google that it looks funny ;-)

I noticed it last year.

I find it very funny to see them on the next page of results. Instead of low rank they should move out of listing and "FEEL LIKE GOD".
