Default Does PR matter

Does PR really matter? Often I find pages that show up within the top 5 in google searches have a page ranking of 0.

It matters as much as any of the 100 or so other factors that Google take into account in the ranking formula.

Hi,

PR plays very important role in website rankings. It is a major consideration for rankings in Google. PR will be given by google based on several factors link how many quality backward links you are having and more

Thanks,
Amar

PR has not been a major factor in rankings for at least a couple of years.

PR doesn't affect SERPs at all, so it's practically worthless. I only use when trying to get link from another site.

As a Google engineer put it: "It's accurate, but not precise."

Where did you get that information from? PR does affect the SERPS.

Personally, I believe PR matters as much as the META TAG keywords do. Very little. If it is abused the importance diminishes. You can thank PR Brokers for it.

Things to consider is it seems PR is influenced by recent link activity whereas SERP's are influenced by link quantity and age. You could in theory get 10k links in 7 months. Get up to PR 6 or whatever. Then stop getting links and over time your rankings will go up while your PR goes down.

Links are what matters --- PR is a measure of links --> PR matters.

The public representation of PR that Google exports to the tool bar periodically may not matter.
