Default Dropped from Google for only ONE keyword!!

Hi All,

Has any one encountered a problem where a site is not listed in the results for only one keyword and has good rankings for the other key words?

Our site was #4 for a particular keyword (our main keyword) for a long time. But suddenly 10 back we were dropped for that keyword.

I thought we were penalized but I wonder how Google can penalize a site for only one keyword.

Any advice would really help.

Thanks in advance.

Default OnlinTV was Wiped out by Google

after having 1000s of results on Google OnlineTV returns nothing for the domain and onlinetv.com became non-existant to them.
http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=onlinetv&meta=
http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en...netv.com&meta=
Go figure that one out. There are active sites at http://buydomains.onlinetv.com
http://www.onlinetv.com
http://www.onlinetv.com/nuke

the latter being there 9 years. We are chatting in another forum about if this was to force name holders to pay for their keywords.

Default But Google dropped only our site for the main key word

Hi Rick,

Yes I see that.

Ours was the only site dropped for that key word. The rest of the sites (ranked above and below us) are still there.

Very strange.

logo,

Welcome aboard WPW..

"Design" is coming in at 23% on your Site and "logo" at 20%.

IMO, It's overdone - back-off usage everywhere and climb back up (any word, 3X max in the keywords for example). You are close to twice what should be there.

Default Other sites have similar % of key words

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your feedback. I will go ahead and tune down the usuage of key words on our home page.

However what do think about the fact that the sites ranking 1,2 and 3 for the term "logo design" oon google have similar percentages of the key word?

Any insight would be apreciated.

Jeff

"logo":

#1
http://www.logo works.com/
Design: 15%

MSN IBLs: 19,139
GOOGLE IBLs:3,060

#2

Design: 20%
Logo: 23%
MSN IBLs: 96,917
GOOGLE IBLs; 9,500

#3

Design: 20%
Logo: 23%
MSN IBLs: 5,314
GOOGLE IBLs:167

Design: 23%
Logo: 20%
MSN IBLs: 48,635
GOOGLE IBLs:12,100

You have higher percentages in both keyword densities than all 3 leaders and more IBL’s in MSN and the GOOG (mostly). Some of the recent alg changes seem to be related to the quality of both IBL’s and OBLs. There are so many factors to consider.
You have quite a few IBL’s, any shady practices there can sure hurt. I haven’t delved deep enough to look at the specific IBLs and OBLs – Relevancy is a big issue now. Since Google recognizes and lists so many IBLs there, I would not worry too much there.

I couldn’t find an HTML or a GOOGLE XML sitemap though. Have you considered installing those? IMO - Every little advantage helps. Your secondary pages should rank as well or only 1 mark under the home page in PR, one level down… Maybe they are not finding them as easily as they should, or would like to. That mass of additional recognized info may help boost you up. WHat if those pages were 4's? Build and Link (from your home page) an html sitemap with textural links (CSS or not) to all the pages on your Site and see if that helps. It sure can't hurt.

Get rid of the PR5-0 problem there, this way. It just may be an issue of more highly rated secondary material here. Elevate all you secondary page rankings this way.

Ken

Default XML site map

Hi Ken,

Thanks for taking the time to actually look at site and offer me the insight. I really appreciate it.

Yes, we do have both a HTM and XML site pages (site_map.htm and site_map.xml) and I had registered the XML with G site map. It crawls it every 4 hours of so (which is goog I guess).

I do not see ours on the first page at all. Did you see ours at #4 as you mentioned in your message or was that just a comparision with the top3?

I will also follow your advice and look at all inner pages (which have PR ranging from 6 to 4).

Once again thanks for all your time and help.

Jeff

Default <noscript> issues maybe?

Hi Ken,

One thing I forgot to mention is that we have a <noscript> on our home page with some keywords and H1 tags. Do you think that could have got us penalized?

Thanks,
Jeff

I took it off. Our SEO expert was insisting that it would not hurt. But after not coming back for a whole 2 weeks now I decided to take things into my own hands and got rid of the <noscript>. We have the same in many other pages. Perhaps I should get rid of it in all pages?

Thanks for your help!

Jeff

Yes, same problem I have found one of my client site (web design company) and still is continue. Earlier site comes in top 10 but now nowhere in top 1000.

This effect not only in my client site even few other sites too with SAME keyword.

Hi Manpasand,

So what do you think is the reason for being dropped for only one key word? Do you think too many IBLs can be cause of this?

Hello Jeff,

Right now I haven't reach any concrete decision yet but too many IBLs is not a cause because I do link exchange only selected sites and didn't tweak the site in last 15-20 days. I don't think all 7-8 websites(even more) have also got too many IBLs.

Now I am seeing more NEW websites coming (top 30-40) in same keywords.

For me these changes was happened when G has increased the database.
