Default Pagerank HELP?

I started a Judaica website back in May. I've used some friends, and software to optimize. I've hand submitted to websites, and used some of the free services. I've started an affiliate program. I'm now at a loss, as my pagerank will NOT go past 2. Any suggestions??? My website is located at http://www.thejewstore.com

Thanks - Julie

WELCOME TO WPW

PR is a function of the number of links to a site - I can only find 3 to yours, so a PR is probably right.

If you want it increased, you need a lot more links.

Default Wow...

Wow... you must have done something right today, Julie. CBP usually just says that PR doesn't mean anything any more and leaves it at that.

While I agree that it doesn't mean much any more (used to mean you'd rank well for most anything you wanted if you had high PR), it's still nice to see some green.

Here is a great place to start building the number of links you'll need to increase that. There are plenty of other resources as well before you start really paying any money for links, although a listing in DMOZ and Yahoo's directory will get some green added at the next public PR update in nearly every case.

Also, making your URL in your signature here a link (using BB code, of course) will add links. There is some debate if those count for much of anything, but they're still links that get crawled and will get the bots to your site.

Quantity is the key, quality is secondary for rankings. If all you want is green, add the quality into the factor as well. Higher PR links normally pass more green to your site, but that green bar isn't what causes rankings or traffic.

Brian.
