I have a few websites and this is the first time I have noticed something like this , I was hoping some of the google experts here might be able to shed some light.
Simple search phrase example WORD WORD WORD (My site not in top five pages results) SAMEWORD_SAMEWORD_SAMEWORD (My Site 1st overall) I was under the impression that google and other engines did not recognize _ . * / ect If being 1st overall with the _'s what would you advise to become 1st without the _'s |

Thanks for that link Kieth, It makes sense but this particular search phrase does not have any _ either in the domain name, the page name or the content. I just happened to notice this phrase in the logs as it was typed into google by a user and i just clicked the link to find out placement.
our actual page that google directs to looks like this www.domainname.com/wordwordword.htm |

IMO, use hyphens but do not go over 4 to 5 per URL
