Default Does having a keyword inside a URL extension matter? .com/

I thought of something ...

if someone has a URL www.abcsite.com/productinfo.html

and their keyword is "widget" what advantage will they get if the change the link for a widget product page to ...

www.abcsite.com/widget-info.html ?

Basically, does having a keyword inside a URL extension matter?

Thank you.

I do it on most of my pages - just seemed the logical thing to do. Dont know really if it helps or not but my rankings have been pretty good on most keywords for the last 2 years. Cant do any harm I presume?

Well if it was not helping then why all the good keyword domains are taken. And all the highlighted keywords on google search..
It is for sure that is helping but the question is how much.
Think about it;-)

Default Domain Extension

Having the domain extension helps from both a search and a coomunications perspective. Just try out the serps. You'll see the extensions.

Yes, I believe that having content, keyword relevant words in your url / file structure is important. However, just like most things, it can be overdone, so proceed with prudence.

Here's an example I recently gave in another thread that makes the point, I think:

"Garden Web Forums" search in Google - the #1 result you'll see has these words bolded in the Title, Description and URL structure showing that Google found it relevant.

Content is still king don't forget - but it can certainly be well complimented.
