Default key word density of two words as search result? 12% to 16%?

No more than 10% in keyword density. 6% to 8% seems to be doing very well.

but what if we have two words as search result? The density should be 12% to 16%? The double of one word ?

Honestly, I have never noticed that Google cares if you use a HIGH keyword density. Just take a look at the #1 for gift baskets. Hell every other word is gift baskets yet they have been #1 for a long time. But Yahoo dropped them as soon as went frenzy with on page keyword density.

I had a conversation recently with a Google Engineer at the WebmasterWorld Conference in New Orleans. He told me that one of the biggest SEO myths is Keyword Density. That's all he would say.

I took that to mean that Google doesn't care about keyword density. So, if you're optimizing for Google, don't worry about keyword density. Sure, measure it against the other pages that rank well for the keyword phrase you're targeting. And make sure that your page is about the same as the other pages that rank in the top 10 for that phrase. That way you'll be sure not to overuse your keyword phrase. I prefer this method simply because if you over use a keyword phrase on a page it doesn't sound right to the users.

I agree with bhartzer about Google's keyword density but i believe Yahoo still looks on page keyword density.

So what the heck is Google looking at then? It seems to not care so much about kw density according to this post and according to some other posts, links are becoming less important, so what is it using to determine rank now? Random URL generators, psychics?

Spin the wheel, after Bourbon its anyones guess...maybe thats the point...

Default keyword density

I encourage all my competitors to focus on keyword density. I will be advising my clients to focus on keyword relevant content, tags and links.

Really? I would say that backlinks and the page title are the two most important things to look at if you want to rank well in Google.

Actually, on-topic backlinks and the title are important.

In truth, I don't know of any evidence yet that Google differentiates between on-topic (relevant) and off-topic links, but we know that it has the technology (AdSense) to do that - if Google is NOT yet using that technology for the regular Google index, it can and probably will.

Aaron Wall (seobook.com) has an interesting article titled The Death of Keyword Density, in which he references comments by Dr. Garcia.
