Google Bashing
Since the Bourbon update it SEEMS most posts on this forum have turned to Google bashing. Atleast more so than before the update. Personally I have NOT seen many negative effects from bourbon any more than other updates.
Either my sites are doing it right by the eyes of this update or I am a spam site that everyone is complaining about. LOL

None of the updates have ever negatively effected our sites. Our sites receive more traffic from google then any other SE.
Google bashing is the same thing as:
walmart bashing
Microsoft bashing
It's lonely at the top

Likewise. From the majority of topics it seems this isnt the norm around here or maybe the only time someone talks about Google is when an issue arises rather than "I am doing great on Google".

Only, from those who's sites dropped. An equal number of sites would have gone up in SERP's - they usually don't post about it.
BTW - none of mine affected.

All of mine have gone up slightly except for one client who was very negatively affected.
Then again, his site was done over 3 years ago and is about due for a redesign anyway. There's one other possible reason why, but I won't know until I redesign his site and launch it toward the end of the month.
Just a thought, but the sites that may suffer the most are those that are using older coding standards (i.e. HTML 4.01 Transitional or earlier.) I have nothing to back this up, and it's speculative, but we shall see.

I'm an equal opportunity poster - I'll just as easily sing the praises as pound and plummet; to keep it fun, I usually try to do both at the same time!
All of my sites, sans one, have increased exponentially during the update, but that doesn't mean I still won't be critical of the top dog to keep them humbled, in check, and striving to stay there - like they care about my opinions anyway :)
I'm getting top SERP in Google for the first time ever which I consider a nice coupe since I launched my very first website just barely over a year ago with absolutely no experience in that genre. Though I am happy with my results, and revere Google, I have no problem pointing out "misgivings" to help keep them on the top of their game.
Phantom hit the nail on its proverbial head - we tend to be more critical (I won't go so far as to admit to bashing) of those on top. That's why my favorite "modern" oxymoron is Microsoft Works, replacing decades of appreciation for military intelligence.

Where is...
Where is greeneagle? I seem to remember the mountain man starting a google bashing thread and then throwing a bit more fuel on the fire. Well, it wasn't really bashing, but encouraging them to do a whole lot more to get rid of the junk that is still in their serps.
I still see plenty of SPAM, if it is defined as Sites Positioned Above Mine. I love that definition.

None of my sites were adversely affected by Bourbon and several went up in the SERPS. As a user I hate wading through all the spam and scraper sites, but I'm grateful that they aren't currently affecting my sites.

I haven't seen negative shifts in any client's sites in well over a year. Just the usual back and forth fluctuations. I haven't seen any increase in spammy sites in as long. They're there, I just haven't seen an increase.
I don't have any stock in Google. But I would like to buy stock in Kleenex. Their sales are probably skyrocketing since we started giving google updates names, like we do hurricanes.
Google is not my favorite search engine, but i won't google bash. Why? Because there's no such thing as bad publicity. I will however give MSN, my favorite SE, free positive publicity. I think MSN Search is all that and a bag of chips.
(sorry for the retro jargon)
