Default Google Sitemap Executing Problems

1. I follow exactly the directions from google sitemap documentation. I have already setup the Config.xml for directory paths.

2. I Copyed the following files to your webserver:

sitemap_gen.py
config.xml
3. I'm trying to execute the script:
I try to do this setting up a cron job in my Cpanel Cron Jobs.
I did that I get error.
On my cron output I get:

First, welcome to the forum.

I don't understand what you are asking. Are you asking how to make a site map for google? Or are you asking how to code something? A little more explanation and i'm sure someone can answer your question.

This is a bigger "bucket of worms" than many expected. There is more behind the scenes. reference:

I have seen this link before: http://www.dmxzone.com/ShowDetail.asp?NewsId=10538
I try it but generated a sitemap with a low number of links only form mau homepage.
I have a site with over 22.000 static pages an don't belive that some web applcations can generate my sitemap.xml

So i asked befor is somebody can help me to run the Python command:

python /home/directo1/public_html/sitemap_gen.py --config=/home/directo1/public_html/config.xml

I tryed to run it using a cron job but I get error:

UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0x97 in position 87: ordinal not
in range(128)

Many thanks.[/b]

Default Can you...

Can you run it from the command line? That would at least tell us if it is indeed workable.

Did you transfer in ASCII or Binary mode? This seems like it may be an error caused by Binary FTP to a *NIX server.

Brian.

frontman,

I use it and Googlebot loves it..just try and thank me later (-|-)

To get higher ranking you're looking the wrong way.. (have to say it ..)

If not all your pages are indexed then it can help a lot..

People who have ranked better because of this sitemap probaly had a link structure that wasn't that good. So if thats you're thing, do it as fast as you can |-)

you don't have to say sorry, I've been there to.Just make a file and name it sitemap.xml

Is that all?,yes it is.

You must go into your Google account and add a sitemap. I don't know for sure if you are aware of this..

Succes.
