2 submit or not!

Hi,

I have recently completed a site redesign for one of my clients. The site still contains about 80% of the original text but now has a new page and an email CGI enquirey form added. All the graphics are new and the old site was framed, where this one is not.

(there are still a few minor bugs to be fixed)

My question is, should I re-submit this site to Google or just let the crawlers do their work..?

Assuming (1) the old site was indexed by Google, and (2) the new site is at the same address, you probably don't need to do anything... Google will re-index the site in time.

If the site has any links going to it then Google will follow those links and find it anyway.

You will come out better letting Google find it threw links from other sites.

Also...since you are going from a framed to non-framed site, Google may do it quite quickly. In fact, I would think it will gobble the entire site up in short order.

The larger filesize of the newer pages in comparison to the older frameset will whet the googlebot appetite quite a bit. I made a drastic revision to my Home Page once, where the filesize was dramatically decreased in the process. Googlebot came in and re-indexed the entire site shortly afterewards.

Smaller changes in filesize does not trigger this event normally, but the drastic changes do. This I think is what will happen when changing from a very small frameset page to a full-blown non-framed home page.

You may want to add a 301 redirect for any pages that no longer exist. If the site was using frames before, then the frame pages will no longer exist but Google may still be looking for them.

For exmaple, you probably don't need 'index_top', 'index_side', you probably only have 'index' as your homepage.
