Hi there,
I run an online clubwear store with my partner, we have been running for about a year and spend a fair bit of time on search engine submissions. http:\\www.contagiousclubwear.com We have a number of keywords that we rank first on in Yahoo and MSN such as "clubbing outfits" but rank only 18 on Google. But unfotunately for our main keyword "clubwear" we do not seem to be able to get any penetration at all. For this word we are on the first five pages for Yahoo and MSN but are absolutely no where with Google. As this is our main keyword and we seem to have no coverage on Google we have to spend a considerable amount on adwords. Has anyone any advice on what I am doing wrong, I desperately need to get my main keyword at least on the first 10 pages on Google. Gordon. |

Just a few of my observations,
There are only 103K results for clubbing outfits but there are 667K for clubwear You are only PR 2 where as most of the top google searches for clubwear are around 4 & 5. Across the 5 major SE's your only showing 214 IBL's (obviously different tools report diff number but not that differently) Your site was registered early 2004. I would take a guess at your site isn't mature enough to rate. I would have thought you need more than PR2 and 214 IBL's to rate decently on 667K results. Also if you registered early 2004 and google didn't pick you up until post March you could be firmly in the sandbox. Am not sure about this all, just some casual observations. I would say you need more IBL's using clubwear as an anchor text plus if you are sandboxed you should improve in time. Why it rates ok in MSN etc for the same keyword then I am stuck as well but thats all I can think of. |

Quote:
Google puts more emhasis than Yahoo & MSN on the keywords in the anchor text of links pointing to a site - your main keywords are not in the anchor text of several of the backlnks I checked to your site. ...also what northernladuk said... CBP |

Cheers, i feel a little better now, quick question though....
Can I get my keyword on the end of the IBL without changing the source of the IBL? if you know what i mean? |

Not in the url, the text used to link to your site.
Code:
Your Keywords Go Here Brian.
