Default Proof that Blogging Gets you out of Google's Sandbox...

Apologies if this has already been covered....

3 months. That's how long it took to "blog" on almost a daily basis, and to keep on efforting to get ranked for my chosen keywords. However, today when I did my usual check for keywords, I noticed that my blog appeared in Google, but not the website.

MSN and Yahoo already had the blog ranked well (top 20), but to see this verification in Google was truly a revelation.

Here's the story.

I launched my blog on February 10th, 2005 and have been pretty consistent about adding to it at least 4 times a week. Then today (May 16, 2005, just about three months) the blog appears in the SERPs.

Here's the search results:[#9, for the blog, #127 for the website] (seo for google)
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...le&btnG=Search

So....

GET BLOGGING!!!!

Congrats on the blog, but that is not really proof that a blog gets you out of the sandbox is it?

It proves that a blogspot blog can make #9.

I find seoforgoogle.com at #117, which seems to me is sandboxed since the search phrase is an exact match of your url.

If I search 'seo google' (no quotes) I don't find seoforgoogle.com in the top 1000. Without digging deeper, it appears sandboxed.

EXACTLY!

That's my point. Since my site doesn't show up anywhere near where anyone would search, it doesn't matter. BUT, the blog shows up in the top 10 results, so, that clearly indicates to me that by blogging, I can get a top 10 ranking in Google for a new site, instead of waiting 3-11 months for my site to get out of the "box"

...of course, as you mentioned, I am now ponerding if the blog made it out of the box because of Blogspot?

The search you linked to shows seoblog.blogspot.com/ in the #9 spot. Clearly, that is a blogspot url.

If the #9 spot were seoforgoogle.com/blog then I would say that your blog is out of the sandbox.

methinks I have to agree!

...I think I just got caught up in the "my site finally showed up in google's top rankings syndrome"...

[off topic reply]
tcampione - what do you think about the Rangers possibly getting Sydney Crosby?

While I think it would be great for the sport, I also wouldn't mind see him playing alongside Lemieux -

(yes, I am a Pens fan!)

SEOforGoogle,

Please consider working on getting that blog hosted on your servers. This will greatly help get your root domain preforming better in the Google SERPS.

tcady,

You will need FTP access to your website. Under the Blogger > Settings > Publishing tabs you should be able to describe to blogger where you want the blog to be uploaded on your website. The tab will be titled: "You're publishing via FTP".

I don't know Crosby at all, but if he's young, big, and more interested in playing hockey than in figure skating, I'll take him! :-)

Good luck in 05-06. Hope we see play.

I too started some blogs earlier this year [March 11th] . The first blog I started http://proeprtynewsdeskbulgaria.blospot.com has not been ranked by google at all but blogs I created a little later [only days later] such as http://propertynewsdeskitaly.blogspot have recently been ranked by Google and are even number one for some of my most important keywords.

Can anybody explain to me why this might be. I know there is more compeititon for the first blog and this is the one I really want ranked.

I'm new to this and really have no idea what's going on or what I can do!

My guess would be that the website that hosts the blog is already indexed and ranked by Google. Google loves fresh content. So, by combining the two, it makes sense that your blog would appear in the SERPs for your related keywords.
