Default What in the World?

Ok strange things are going on with the results google is displaying for my site. When I type in the search phrase "springfield Illinois" I come up #13, but the description says -

Topologies.net. This Domain has expired. Please contact your provider to renew.
Home, Gifts Online Store Legal Help New Technology Professional Services ...

& when you click on the link you are taken to my site?

Also the cache Google has is of the search page described? (have seen this on several differnt dates recently)

I have checked & my domain name isn't up for another year? Does anyone have any idea what is happening - is someone hijacking my domain?
Can anyone help?

That is odd. The other sites where you've seen this, do they use the same registrar?

Google has it right - Topologies.net page DOES say "This Domain has expired. Please contact your provider to renew."

I imagine that is NOT how your site is supposed to look ... what happens when you try to update your site (ftp/cpanel/whatever)?

What does your hosting company have to say?

I repeated your steps and got the same results. However, unlike the previous poster I am able to call up topologies.net just fine.

The cached page in google shows the expired domains screen and shows the page was cached yesterday. Weird.

OK, works fine for me now. I get your proper site now, but I didn't before.

I actually did get the "expired domain" page that Google mentioned. I even tried going directly to "topologies.net" to double check.

I had to go to Alexa to see a thumbnail of what your page SHOULD look like.

So, I believe something happened with nameservers for a while.

Keep a watch on this!

Default Cache Changed

Well Google's re-cached the correct page but the description is still incorrect. I'm hoping it will straighten itself out soon...the sites traffic has been cut from 500 uniques per day to around 250.
I'm still puzzled as to why this happened in the first place & who's search page that is. gggrrr

Something really weird has just happened with my site as well.

As of today, a search for "bluelement" is giving me the title and description of my old website, and a page size of 2k, as was my old website.

I noticed also that the cache (which isnt displaying properly) is being called up from 29th April 2005.

My new website was crawled by Google in the last couple of days, and I remember checking it on the 2nd May, and I was ranked with the new details for my new site (title, description, etc). My page size was displayed correctly, as 11k, and the cache said it had been updated on 1st May 2005.

It looks like Google are having serious problems and have had to fall back to a previous backup index.

That's the only reason I can think of why:

- cache times have gone backwards
- old details are being ranked for webpages

Anyone experiencing similar problems???

I wouldn't worry too much however, they will re-crawl immediately I expect! It should sort itself out soon.

I have some pages and an old site design showing up from 3+ years ago. I had these pages cleaned out and removed from G's index about 6 months ago. I am beginning to think remove URL from Google is a waste fo time this is actually 6th time I have successfully removed an old page only to have the index reverted and included again.

I think we can safely assume Google has reverted to a backup index for reasons unknown.

Hopefully they'll sort it out immediately. This is getting rather annoying.

I had a similar and maybe more confusing result like this one.

When typing www.mysitename.com

I was shown the homepage of some web design companyas the one result.

I got this for 3 domians of mine on the same shared space.

while other did not have this error.
This corrected itself in 48 hours, but essentially had someone elses site and domain cached were mins should have been.

this was about 12 days back, and agin I cannot recreate it now.

All back to normal now, I think.

My site is being recognised properly now, Google must have sorted out their problems!

Well the cached search page & expired domain description from April 30th are back for my Springfield site! GRRR!@:(
It is frustrating to know that I am powerless to do anything about this. I hope network solutions, my host, or Google, will get there head out of you know where, sometime soon.

The cache & description are still showing this BS and now Yahoo shows it for its cache as well. I have since found out that this website www.bnmq.com is the one responsible for my problems. It is register domain by proxy (easern asia) and there is nothing I can do becuase they are just manipulating my info, they are manipulating something internal to the SE's. Without their help, I think my 5 years of effort with this domain is for nothing. I have written & called everyone I can think of without any progress. Another interesting thing is that if you look at backlinks for this bnmq site it shows 2800 backlinks in Google (depending on how you look), all of which are internal - dynamically generated pages. I guess to solve my problem I need to figure out how to effectively run a tight ship at the two largest search engines in the world.....I'm going to go bury my head in a pillow in hopes that I don't wake up.

So what IS going on here ...

Your site comes up fine. But I do remember it NOT working back when you first posted the problem - http://topologies.net/ was pointed at that strange page back then, so the way I looked at it was that Google was perfectly right - they had cached what was there.

Then your site came good, but Google's cache has still not caught up? Or has the re-direction problem recurred?

If the re-direction problem is recurring then that calls for some sort of action, but if it is just Google's cache, then that is not a great problem - you could always check your logs to see that Google is actually visiting. If everything is back to normal for your site, Google should soon catch up.

There is some kind of DNS issue or something here? I can certify that my website has been on the same host, on a paid domain through all of this. NOTHING HAS CHANGED WITH MY SITE, MY HOST, OR MY DOMAIN NAME. Short of updating 2 or 3 internal pages and a post on the PHPBB2 message board, I haven't touched the site since Dec. 04! I guess at very least I am not getting what I paid for from my registrar. But then again all they sold me was a name. I guess I have what they sold me on WHOIS paper, even if it is rendered mostly useless by thieves & charlatans?
Just recently Yahoo has taken the same cache approach to my site, but not description. I haven't checked MSN, cause what does any of it matter anyway? Damage done. Accept that life isn't fair & move on...I guess until you can figure out how to screw others more exactly than they can screw you.
Sorry so cynical, helplessness yields anger & angst! I am filled with both.
