Default How does Google treat .info sites?

Does anyone have any experience with result variations on Google with different domain extensions like .com vs. .info etc. I have an offer to acquire many .info sites, but haven't had any experience in the past with how Google deals with these domains.

Any input would be really appreciated thanks.

I have a .net site that is doing very, very well. As far as I can tell, the .whatever doesn't seem to effect it at all. Like yahoo, the actual url if a keyword will make some difference. keyword.whatever Just my observations.

Google treats all TLD's the same --- they want to rank sites based on importance and relevance --- the TLD has nothing to do with either.

It may appear that .com's rank better, but thats just because there are a lot more of them around.

It may also appear that .edu's and .gov's rank better, but they probably rank better because they probably have a lot more non-reciprocal links etc and not beasue of the TLD

Thanks for all the insight. I've been doing some searches for a ton of random keywords, looking for any type of .info result in the top 100 but haven't found a single one as of yet.

So this makes me wonder if there is anything holding .info sites back. As well, because they were or still are a free registered domain extension, perhaps Google treats them as mostly garbage sites - does this hold any water?

Thanks cbp, a lot of people say the exact opposite, but i suspect they have simply misinterpreted the statistics and that you in fact are exactly correct.

Yeah, I can tell you for a fact that the TLD means absolutely nothing.

Although, if you're doing a national-level search, then it obviously does, lol.
