It has no direct effect. But some webmasters will link only to sites with high PR. As this is a factor when a site is considered 'authority' from the webmasters. Imagine you have an article publications site with PR8. I bet it will explode in a month time. And the opposite it is PR0.

webmasters will lose the interest in PR update if they wait too long for it. I bet the update will happen this month

Oh yeah, we certainly will lose interest if it never gets updated.
Is that a good thing? Probably! And we would lose interest in Google to some extent, too, and start to focus on other things. Like ranking on other search engines, getting direct referrals, keeping visitors happy so they come back and refer their friends, and so on. |

I use to own www.CanadaPokerStore.com which had a PR of 0. I made $400 US a month. That is not nickles. I have also just sold my store after just three months of opening it for a nice profit. PR means nothing really. It is a pretty little ornament, results are what matters. What you can do for your customers and/or advertisers is what determines your value! And a lot of it has to do with image and marketing. PR does not rule the world. It just looks pretty on my toolbar. The End!

I was one of the people who was predicting April 1st as the day. That has come and past. I am not sure now, all I have noticed is that the SERPS has been in a huge flux. I have seen 3-4 different results between DC's. All of my new sites have reverted too there orginal state so I think they are just testing it and getting it right before they release the update.

Between end of march and now, my 2 sites have dropped 10 and 20% in visibilty on Google mainly, and some other SEs too....and seem to be continuing to drop. My "Visibility" rating comes from Web Position Gold reports. I look at the rank of my top 18 keywords phrases on about 15 search engines every week, if I was at #1 on all my rating would be 100%, my rating went up suddenly to about 60% in the begining of the year, whem MSN launched thier new SE, I got good ranks there....then Google is the one who has dropped my ranks lately. The only thing I have done to my sites is:
I started Google adwords in February... ( ahave heard some people say this make Google drop you) and about two weeks ago I made a link on the home pages of both to a job position listing we have open. (these are two different companies who happened to both have new job openings) - I did not have a jobs page before this...any ideas why my rank is dropping? The update? It does appear to be mostly occuring on Google....but it is occuring on other SEs a little - could it be my job opening page detracting from the theme of my site? |

I'm confused which isn't new. My pr still shows 0 and I don't understand how to see the internal pr. And, if pr isn't important than why bother? I don't understand most of what you all discuss but appreciate your time and comments.

Any effect the PR would have on your ranking for the most part should already be seen. But people just like to watch and see what the tool bar says there site will be. |
