Co-op ad network

I have noticed that some real estate websites have started using the co-op ad network to great effect. They have shot up to the top of Google serps for some very competitive keywords.

As it is an advertisment sharing system I cannot see how Google would penalise for using it.

Anyone any thoughts on whether this system is safe to use? The results seem to be VERY impressive.

Results in G seem a pit patchy for some, much better with Y!/MSN.

I doubt G would penalise you for using the Coop per se, but individual sites could be pinged due to their linkage pattern.

There are those who argue its spam and Google should ban it and then there are those who argue its the greatest thing since sliced bread and there is no way Google could ban it... there appears to be no middle ground.

I use it on one site that got to numero uno on Google, Yahoo & MSN with it, so I happy.
