Traced by Google but not ranked ... help

Hi

I am pretty new to this world - and one thing is bothering me a lot. I can't see my URL in even first 1000 pages of google with my prefered and listed keyword ... but I can find myself in google by typing my site name directly ...

Any idea friends ???

I am fairly new to this also. What I have learned is Google will crawl your website but it may not be listing for over a month. My sites have taken about a month before any of the pages show up on the searches. Another thing....if you are targeting keywords that are very popular and competitive then your chances of getting a high ranking are much lower. Target keywords that are less popular but still get the right traffic to your site. This is just my suggestion. If I am wrong please someone correct me. ;-)

Even if google does index your site, finding it for your chosen keywords isn't that straight forward.

You're probably sandboxed, or in some kind of time filter for new sites, just like my site is.

You will have to wait months to find your site anywhere in google, that's providing you have good PR.

I thought that indexing means ranking - I mean, Google does both thing together, reason why I was a bit lost. Thanks for the new light ... you guys are telling that even though Google has indexed my site, there is no guarantee when they will rank my site, right !!!
