New Site? First Page? Sandbox? Pagerank?
I own www.CanadaPokerStore.com. My site is only a month old and I rank #2 for the competitive search term poker store, and #1 for Canada Poker Store. However I do not have a PR as of yet. Why is this? Am I in the sandbox? I have many powerful links pointing to my site? What else can I do to optimize my site, or speed up PR update time?

PR is not real time
Hi,
My understanding after reading these posts is that PR is only updated on your google every now and again. (times quoted every 3 months or so). However that doesn't mean that this is your true value.
If you read the posts they all point to the fact that pr is less important these days and is only one small part of the eqaution.

If you are ranked that high for such competitive terms then you must have high PR. The Google toolbar updates every 3-4 months, so what you see there isn't accurate. What counts is the PR that Google has in its indexes and that must be high so don't worry.
You've done well. I have a small UK casino site ( www.playhard.co.uk) and don't rank top 50!

p.s. How about a link? :-;

Many people think that yahoo link search gives more accurate picture:

rclarke,
First of all, pr has very little to do with serps (search engine rank). You could easily have a pr5 and be nowhere to be seen.
You should be happy with that rank and pat yourself on the back, because you appear to have pretty good on-page optimization, however, I have seen many times a new site jump to the top of the heap, only to drop off into the sandbox.

Dear one,
if this isn't true for you,
please let me know and I WILL apologize. :-D
but this looks from the info given to be a case of:
"things are only REALLY HARD MOSTLY ONLY IN THE USA"
this is typical of many searches for KW's of "sandboxsed" sites of ours that do really well in countries other than the US.
are you searching IN CANANDA?
your response will be good info for the rest of us....
Blessings!!!,
Kristos

Suggestions?
I will try the MSN link above but for some reason MSN sucks today on my end. And to think at one time MR. Gates was my American Idol! Jeez!
EDIT - worked. But why would Yahoo show 500 link and MSN 390? And who know what google finds?
Anyone, anyone, Bueller? :)
Thx,

Yes, for site:yourdomain.com - that will pickup how many of your pages are in the index, whereas link: http://www.yourdomain.com picks up inbound links.
Google shows a very small (sample) number of inbounds.
msn seems to be the best at it.
As to why the numbers of different?
Well, each search engine has its own way of indexing pages so it will if its own way of deciding or knowing how many pages to show up.
Other things could factor in too.
For example, Yahoo tends to be a bit slow in indexing new and changed pages, so the higher number could be picking up old / non-existent pages

That's interesting.
I almost dismissed MSN for that purpose because of poor results with some of my names.
It returned exactly 10 links for one name, while Google produced 72, Yahoo 99 for the same one.
Now, this example shows MSN could still be used for that, altough they produce many duplicate results, at least regarding dmoz listing.
It seems they pick every site who use DMOZ as a backbone for their own directory.
Anyway, I still think that G and Y are more in sync regarding links, but obviously one should check more broadly.

Google is freakin out
Hello,
When I started this thread I told you I had #2 on Google for search term poker store. An hour ago I checked it again and it said I was #6. I checked all of googles other ip's and they all ranked me for #6 (used google dance tools). Now I am back at #2 again. It looks liked Google reverted back to old SERP's?? Why? What is up with Google.. are they getting ready for something big.. or are they just gone googly?

hmm
I really do think something big is happening with Google. It is acting really strange. Almost like the algorithm is updating in real time based on current links, and mete tags. Today I bounced from position #2 to #7 and now I am back at #5 for the search term Poker Store. I was playing with my meta tags this morning. Is this all possible?
